Last spring Madeline and I planted a Fairy Garden beside the house in the back yard. It was beautiful just like these pictures. It lasted for a few days until a big rain. What we didn’t know when we planted it was that it was directly under a roof run off of huge proportions! This poor garden was washed away like the earth in Noah’s flood. After researching Fairy Gardens I have found a solution to our problem. I am going to plant the garden in a container! I can then move the container around in sun and shade as needed and even out of the storm if necessary. The best article on Fairy Gardens was found in Midwest Living Magazine. Summerspastfarms.com also has a complete fairy garden in a pink box that they will mail to you. We are going to try again…hopefully with success this time!
Last night I hosted a Southern Living Home party with a 4th of July theme. It was super fun and the products were beautiful. I had the party to get the beverage server (filled with orange lemon-aide in the photo above) and was able to get that and a few other things. Stacy Patterson is the Southern Living Rep. and she was great! We played some super games to win fun prizes.
The menu consisted of some American favorites like hamburgers and corn dogs and chocolate fondue with strawberries and pretzels.
We had a great time chatting about girly topics and buying some great home accents.
My mother-in-law Sharlene Royalty came down for the weekend and was able to come to the party. She and Madeline helped me so much by cleaning up the entire thing while I was talking to guests as they left! Wow!
I had some of my best girlfriends over today for a CAbi trunk show. We had lots of girly fun while we tried on clothes and learned about the new spring trends.
Madeline really helped me get ready for the show by making sandwiches, decorating candy and even cleaning up. It is nice to have such a lovely daughter. I found many things in the spring line that I wanted to buy, but settled for three skirts and a sweater. Madeline got a cute skirt from her Mimi who was also at the party enjoying the CAbi clothes. This is proof that CAbi clothes span the generations!
We made cute party favors using the Cricut cutter and filled them with hersey’s kisses. These were very easy to make.
1. you start with a rectangle piece of cardstock
2. glue into a tube
3. glue one end shut and add kisses when dry
4. glue the other end shut the opposite way
5. decorate with Cricut cutouts
We couldn’t help it, we had to decorate the mini chocolate bars too! These were a hit with the ladies along with the pink and white m&m’s. Of course the CAbi clothes were the best this season. You can check them out here.
If you would like to make your own book, Blurb is the spot for you! I am excited by this new project idea. I have made photo books before, but this takes it to the next level. The cost to make your own book is very reasonable and books are purchased from the site on demand. I have been thinking of writing a coffe table book about finding your home decorating style. This would be a great way to get started! You can even make a book straight from your blog!
I finally got finished with my closet organization project! I thought I would let you see the end result. Closets are not usually featured on blogs because they are quite private but I don’t know how to be private so… here it is!
I used wall pops vinyl to make a sign for the wall to inspire me! It is the idea of my own store that I can shop in for free!!! I organized by type, skirt, sweater, shirt and then by color. The color coordinated bins help to unify the look and keep the folded things organized. I hung jewelry on silver hooks on the wall so they would be in easy reach (and I needed to use some of the space I wasted with the sign). I also put some photos so I would see them everyday, one of my pretty mother and also my beautiful children.

This is the cutest idea! I am going to be on the lookout for some cupcake paper vases. I am thinking that I could use the silicone cups that i saw at Hobby Lobby last week. It would be cute to put a red rose bud on top like a cherry! Carnations are so inexpensive and are available in so many colors. It would be a great hostess gift especially if I can find the box to bring it in.
