I have been looking at ideas for decorating and making a file for my future (way in the future) home and I wanted to share this photo of mirrors as windows. I love it and all the black and white. That foot on the table is just great!

I am captivated with bumble bees right now and this pillow is just what I need! I am adding it to my Christmas list. Santa, just go to BallardDesigns.com and pick it up for me!

Okay, this time I took [no, I did not steal it, she offered it] the shelf from Madeline’s room and put it in the dining room. The benefit of having all white decor is that things can go from one room to the other without missing a beat! I had been looking for something for this space for a while and since I wanted something that cost a thousand dollars, this will have to do for a while. I am still missing something but, oh well, we never use that room anyway!
This morning I have been enjoying Lonny Magazine! It is a super online decorating magazine with great “do-able” ideas. This issue has a really inspiring black and white stripe bathroom that I would love to copy. There is also a super article on the Kate Spade Store in New York. It tells you how to decorate your home with ideas from the store and little tips to get the same look. I am taking some of the ideas and using them right away! I don’t decorate with color so I have to use black and white instead. I am going to use lots of texture and pattern( stripes, damask and polka dots) to make the impact that color would have in a space. The New Year is such a fun time to make small changes in your home decor. All the Christmas decor is gone and you have a clean blank slate to work with. Just moving the furniture around can really make a difference. I just flipped my duvet over to solid white and changed the pillows around with ones from another room to completely change the look of my bedroom. For FREE! I can’t wait to try something else…
This year I just put out minimal decor because we are leaving early for the Christmas Cruise and won’t be able to enjoy it over the holiday. I put the tree in the breakfast room where we have most of our meals so we would be able to see it all lit up at night while we were eating. It is on a rotating tree base which is so cool but I didn’t know it was rotating when we bought it. What a surprise! I usually put the tree in a big black urn but the urn is outside full of dirt and I didn’t want to deal with having to clean it up and bring it inside this year. I just love Christmas time!
I love this room! This is pink and green done right! It has such a preppy-glam vibe. The most crucial pieces here are the pink chair, pink and green lamp, pink pillows and green wallpaper. If these items were removed, the room would be just another nice room. This has such a Lilly Pulitzer look without the wild Lilly prints. If I have some pillows made from vintage Lilly fabric, it would be the icing on the cake!
Last night I hosted a Southern Living Home party with a 4th of July theme. It was super fun and the products were beautiful. I had the party to get the beverage server (filled with orange lemon-aide in the photo above) and was able to get that and a few other things. Stacy Patterson is the Southern Living Rep. and she was great! We played some super games to win fun prizes.
The menu consisted of some American favorites like hamburgers and corn dogs and chocolate fondue with strawberries and pretzels.
We had a great time chatting about girly topics and buying some great home accents.
My mother-in-law Sharlene Royalty came down for the weekend and was able to come to the party. She and Madeline helped me so much by cleaning up the entire thing while I was talking to guests as they left! Wow!
I need two of these! I don’t know where I will put them but I love them. There is a whole collection of darling chairs with great fabrics right now on Target.com
When my husband Mark was out of town I got the idea to move all the coffee tables to different rooms. It was a real success! They should have been there all along, I don’t know why I didn’t see it sooner. It is funny how moving one thing can start a snowball….
Doesn’t this room say peaceful and glamorous to you? I am inspired by the calming blue and cream mix and the adapted cheetah print using tan and blue. Ballard Designs is such a great resource for my decorating style. I love the ottoman used as a coffee table and the books in the middle remind me that that is an option for my sitting room. I moved my zebra ottoman in the sitting room with the mongolian lamb fur pillows. It really makes it like a glam lounge. I will go in search of some books to put in the middle to serve as a tray for something decorative. It is such a stormy day with tornado watches and rain….it is a day for decorating!
